This is my IPC 2019 Silver Medal case! What a year! Creating four images that are all selected for the Merit Collection is never easy, and these images represent two years of work (they received accolades at local, state, and district judging before now). One of them was even selected for the prestigious Loan Collection (“Table for 1”). And, there’s more – two of them received my highest (tie) PPA scores yet (“Morning Solitude” and “Sunset in Kuala Lumpur”)! ðŸ¥³

I have spent three years photographing primates all over the world, and it has been very fulfilling. I am honored that the judges appreciate my images of these amazing creatures. “Table for 1” is an orangutan in Kuala Lumpur, and “An Old Soul” is a chimpanzee in Dallas. I spent several hours with both of these lovely ladies trying to capture more than just their faces … I wanted to show more of their personalities and souls.

Landscapes have always been one of my favorite things to photograph. “Sunset in Kuala Lumpur” is obviously a cityscape of that beautiful place. It took three days to find the perfect spot, and then I shot for an hour or so to get this panorama before, during, and after sunset. This shot was my favorite. “Morning Solitude” was shot on a brutally cold morning at sunrise in Wyoming. The man in the boat rowing through my frame was a moment of serendipity. I love it when that happens!

Congratulations to everyone who entered! I am looking forward to seeing what all of you create for next year! ðŸ˜€
